SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Before finding the ideal work placement for a candidate, Care Career Connection assess the strengths, abilities, challenges and preferences of each individual. After the evaluation we start life and business skills training. Once training has been concluded a career path is identified and actioned.

What the training includes:

  • Life skills training is done to encourage independent living. This includes domestic, basic maintenance, self esteem and relationships, community service, public transport and personal rights.
  • Professional skills training includes workplace etiquette, body language, self advocacy, conflict management, electronic communication, etc.

TRANSITION TO WORK

EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENT

Once the internship is completed the Care Career Connection Placement Specialist identifies and negotiates a potential job placement that matches the candidates skills and strengths.

 

What the process entails:

  • Negotiating a salary, in line with the industry rate with special accommodations
  • Doing a full task and expectation analysis of the employer
  • Sensitisation of employers, managers and colleagues
  • A Placement Specialist does a full simulation of jobs and tasks themselves, at the business or partner premises to establish whether the candidate will be able to complete the job.
  • Job shadowing and assisting the candidate
  • Implements a long-term support programme
